At Annex Clinic, our mission focuses on functional restoration — helping you regain mobility, relieve pain and discomfort, and optimize your health and well-being through individually tailored chiropractic, acupuncture, and therapeutic massage services.
Dr. Simonsen graduated as a chiropractor from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in 1984 and returned to Denmark to complete her licensing. In 1986, she co-founded Annex Clinic with Dr. Chiu. With extensive training in Craniosacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation through the Upledger Institute, she applies these therapies to patients of all ages.
A faculty member at CMCC since 1987, Dr. Simonsen authored "Orthopaedic Examinations for Extremities and TMJ" in 2013. She became a Chiropractic Orthopaedic Specialist in 2003. She has has practiced acupuncture since 2004 after training in China, Hong Kong and Canada. Dr. Simonsen is also passionate about the nutritional aspects of health and disease.
Dr. Chiu co-founded Annex Clinic with Dr. Simonsen in 1986 after graduating from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in 1984. He studied Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in 1985 in Hong Kong and has been practicing acupuncture since then.
Dr. Chiu taught Acupuncture at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine for 16 years. He has been on faculty at CMCC since 1993, and in addition taught acupuncture for CMCC for 24 years. He has served as President of the Acupuncture Council of Ontario since its inception in 1995. He has been a consultant for various health organizations, including the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, the insurance industry and the College of Chiropractors of Ontario.
Erin has been a licensed Massage Therapist since 1991, with 28 years of experience in medical settings. She specializes in treating painful muscular complaints and in providing restorative massage for relaxation. Erin served as an oral practical examiner and content consultant for the science exams with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario for a decade.
Erin's approach integrates a range of effective manual techniques from soothing rhythmic to firm, brisk or slow Swedish massage, that directly manipulates muscle and connective tissue (fascia). She integrates modern cupping therapy, when indicated, to enhance treatment effectiveness.
